Defendant Insurers who refuse to Provide PPOs

Although thankfully it is quite rare, there is still the odd defendant insurer who refuses to settle claims by way of periodical payments. Although there can be good reasons, usually it is simply because they realise how much more a Periodical Payment Order will cost them, compared to a lump sum settlement.

At IM Asset Management, we have been instructed in more than 250 cases over the past 5 years involving many different defendant insurers. Throughout, we have kept a log of each defendant insurer and how the case settled.

We now have a substantial list of claims including how many insurers have settled by way of a periodical payment. In a recent claim, a fee earner was informed that a particular insurance company “did not do periodical payments”. We were able to provide the fee earner with information on how the insurer had settled other claims.

If you would like more information on how your defendant insurer has settled claims, then please speak to your IM Asset Management contact.
