Richard Potts
Richard Potts is the Chief Executive of IM Asset Management. He has an LLB from the University of Newcastle and an MBA from City Business School. He is directly responsible for the formulation of investment strategy and day to day investments for all of IM Asset Management clients.
Richard has been actively involved in financial markets and the formulating of client investment strategies for more than 25 years. During this time, he has managed the global investment business of Philips and Drew, which is one of the largest investment organisations in the country and he has also been a partner at the long established private client firm of Cazenove and Co. Richard has provided high level investment advice to private and institutional clients throughout the world.
Philip Ostle
Philip Ostle joined IM Asset Management in 2005 as Head of Financial Services and is now in charge of Business Development and the Financial Services Team. He has extensive experience in pre- and post-settlement personal injury work. He covers all offices but is based mostly in London.
He graduated from Kings College, London, and later moved into Financial Services working for a major Lloyds brokerage, specialising in inheritance tax planning and investment management.
Philip then became part of the financial services arm of one of the UK's largest stock broking institutions, with particular emphasis on all forms of investment tax planning.
In 1990 he moved to a large accountancy practice where, for 15 years, he provided specialist investment and pensions advice to high net worth individuals, corporations and Trusts.
Philip and his team are all fully qualified to provide independent financial advice and are approved persons under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. They are regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Philip works on both pre settlement and post settlement work for both Irwin Mitchell and our external connections. Recent cases include the high profile Flora case, which set the background to the recent Thompstone judgement.
Eric Armbrust
Eric Armbrust is a Financial Advisor at IM Asset Management and covers our London and Birmingham offices. He specialises in personal injury, investment planning and taxation advice and has extensive experience in providing advice on complex cases involving periodical payments, Personal Injury Trusts and the Court of Protection.
Eric graduated from the University of Queensland (Australia) in 1993 with an Honours degree in Economics. He then began his career in Financial Services working with a major Australian retail and investment bank where he specialised in tax planning and investment management. He completed the Diploma of Financial Planning through Deakin University (Australia) and was recognised as a Certified Financial Planner in 2001.
Eric relocated to the UK in 2004 and worked for a large accountancy practice where he provided specialist investment and pensions advice to high net worth individuals and trusts. He joined IM Asset Management in 2006. He is a member of the Institute of Financial Planning, and is a Certified Financial Planner in the UK.
Simon Pettengell
Simon Pettengell provides investment and tax mitigation advice to patients of the Court of Protection, personal injury trusts and individuals. He has over 30 years of financial experience in both banking and financial planning. Simon is based in Sheffield and covers our Midland and Northern offices.
Simon initially worked for 17 years with Barclays Bank, where he held a senior position managing the affairs of over 6,000 personal and corporate clients. This covered the establishment of investments, loans and helping people to manage their finances.
In 1993 he joined a division of American Express where he focused on providing financial advice to fee paying clients. This covered all aspects of financial planning through a comprehensive and holistic approach.
In 2002 he moved to a national firm of independent financial advisers where he concentrated on providing financial advice in relation to specialist investments and inheritance tax planning for high net worth individuals. Simon joined IM Asset Management in 2006.
Edward Tomlinson
Edward Tomlinson has worked in the Financial Services sector since graduating from the University of Sheffield in 1998, where he obtained a degree in Mathematics.
Since joining IM Asset Management in 2006, Edward has focused on advising claimants and their solicitors on pre-settlement financial matters, including periodical payments, the indexation issue and alternative settlement options. He has advised on over 100 cases ranging in value up to £10 million. "Ed" is based in Sheffield and covers all offices.
Edward previously worked for a substantial firm of Independent Financial Advisers, where he advised private clients and trusts on investment matters. He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds a Diploma in Financial Planning.
